Second Grade News

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I am including some photos from our Halloween party, Thanksgiving turkey headbands, and the arrival of Nick – our Elf on the Shelf during the month of December.

Reading is always full of adventures. We have been reading humorous fiction, realistic fiction and several biographies. We have also been studying homographs, suffixes, and synonyms. Congratulations to everyone who achieved their AR goal for the second quarter. Don’t forget to keep reading at home to earn your minutes for the Book IT Program!

Math is fun. We are learning about time and money. We have had fun working with clocks and playing a little quiz bowl using money and speed in counting the coins.

In science and social studies, we have been learning about Earth’s materials, resources, landforms, product maps, and bodies of water. We are also learning how fossils provide evidence of how Earth has changed over time.

Wishing you and your family a great start to a new year!
